Z-code files are story files for interactive fiction written in the Zork Implementation Language (ZIL).
Script Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion (SCUMM) is a scripting language created by Ron Gilbert at Lucasfilm Games. It was used in its adventure games from 1987 to 1997 as well as in special editions of The Secret of Monkey Island in 2009 and Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge in 2010.

They are run in a Z-machine interpreter.
It was also used by Humongous Entertainment in their video games from 1992 to 2003.

It was developed by Infocom for the home computer conversions of Zork to allow for easy porting of text adventure games to other platforms.
Double Fine Productions also used SCUMM in their remastered versions of Day of the Tentacle in 2016 and Full Throttle in 2017.

It was also used by Humongous Entertainment in their video games from 1992 to 2003.

Double Fine Productions also used SCUMM in their remastered versions of Day of the Tentacle in 2016 and Full Throttle in 2017.
