VS. System was an arcade hardware platform that was available from March 1984 to 1990.

It was produced by Nintendo concurrently with an arcade platform with similar hardware specifications, the PlayChoice-10.

Home versions of the games

Some of the VS. System games were released on Nintendo's video game consoles, both through traditional game ports and through emulation.

VS. Clu Clu Land was released on the Family Computer Disk System in Japan on April 28, 1992. This version was included via emulation in Animal Crossing for GameCube on December 14, 2001 in Japan, on September 15, 2002 in North America, on June 27, 2003 and on September 24, 2004 in Europe. It was also included in Animal Crossing for iQue Player in China on June 1, 2006 and on Nintendo Switch Online for Nintendo Switch in Japan on May 15, 2019.

VS. Excitebike was released for the Family Computer Disk System in Japan on December 9, 1988, and on Nintendo Switch Online for Nintendo Switch worldwide on September 21, 2018.

Through emulation, the actual arcade versions of several VS. System games were later made available on home video game consoles. Hamster released the arcade versions through their Arcade Archives series, worldwide, for Nintendo Switch. VS. Super Mario Bros. was released on December 22, 2017, VS. Excitebike was released on September 21, 2018, VS. Urban Champion was released on November 9, 2018, VS. Ice Climber was released on February 22, 2019, VS. Clu Clu Land was released on June 28, 2019, VS. Gradius was released on August 15, 2019, VS. Pinball was released on August 30, 2019, VS. Castlevania was released on October 17, 2019, VS. Golf was released on October 25, 2019, VS. Balloon Fight was released on December 27, 2019, VS. Mahjong was released on February 21, 2020, VS. Wrecking Crew was released on May 1, 2020, VS. Baseball was released on June 19, 2020, and VS. Tennis was released on December 18, 2020.
