Monkey Island is an American adventure game series.

It premiered in 1990 with the release of The Secret of Monkey Island.

Fictional storyline

Guybrush Threepwood is a young man who wants to be a pirate.

After completing three trials he gets his wish, though not as he expected.

After amassing a ship and a crew, he travels to Monkey Island to defeat the Ghost Pirate LeChuck and to rescue Governor Elaine Marley.

Guybrush later marries Elaine, but their lives are always upended by LeChuck's inevitable return.
