PlayChoice-10 was an arcade hardware platform with interchangeable program boards which were released from August 1986 to 1991.
It was produced by Nintendo concurrently with an arcade platform with similar hardware specifications, the VS. System.
The PlayChoice-10 was preceded by games that used Z80-based arcade hardware by Nintendo from 1980 to 1985.
Hardware
The PlayChoice-10 was based on the Nintendo Entertainment System.
It had a timer that restricted the amount of time each game could be played per credit.
Models
The upright cabinets of the PlayChoice-10 were available in single-screen and double-screen variants.
The second screen displayed controls and descriptions for the chosen game.
A countertop variant had two controllers set up side-by-side.
Games for the PlayChoice-10
Some games have a 1985 copyright notice despite the fact the hardware wasn't released until 1986. These games refer to the copyright year of the home console release.
