The Lost Treasures of Infocom is a video game compilation.
It contains twenty interactive fiction games developed by Infocom written in the Z-code scripting language.
The compilation was published by Activision on floppy disks for Amiga, Apple II, DOS, and Mac OS in 1991. It was also released on CD-ROM for DOS and MacOS.
The Lost Treasures of Infocom was later released through digital distribution on iOS in 2012.
Development
Activision acquired Infocom in 1986. In 1988, Activision was renamed Mediagenic and fell into debt. In 1989, Medigenic closed Infocom. To rescue the company from bankruptcy, two businessmen named Bobby Kotick and Brian Kelly acquired 25% of the shares of Mediagenic for approximately $500,000 USD.
After the reconstruction of Activision after the purchase, bundles containing intellectual properties owned by Activision were released. The Lost Treasures of Infocom sold well enough to warrant a sequel containing most of the remaining Infocom interactive fiction games, The Lost Treasures of Infocom II, in 1992.
