In the United States, in Michigan, S.S. Kresge founded S.S. Kresge Company.
In Hollywood, California, USA, on July 19, 1916, Famous Players Film Company and Paramount Pictures merged with the Lasky Feature Play Company. The resulting company was named Famous Players-Lasky Corporation.
