Marvel Studios is a subsidiary of Marvel Entertainment, which itself is a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company.
It produces and oversees films and television shows, utilizing computer-generated imagery, based on Marvel Comics characters.
Formation
Marvel Studios was founded as Marvel Films in 1993.
Its name was changed to Marvel Studios in 1996.
It originally oversaw films based on Marvel Comics characters produced by other studios.
In 2008, it began producing its own films that shared a universe between them known as the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In 2009, Marvel and its subsidiaries, including Marvel Studios, were acquired by Disney.

The 20th Century Studios X-Men series was produced and distributed by 20th Century Studios. It began with X-Men in 2000.
It was discontinued in 2019 after The Walt Disney Company acquired 20th Century Fox. The last film that was part of the X-Men Saga was The New Mutants, which was released in 2020.
