Konami Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd. (株式会社コナミデジタルエンタテインメント, Kabushiki-gaisha Konami Dejitaru Entateinmento) is the Japanese development division of Konami Group Corporation.
Konami Industry Co., Ltd.
Konami was founded by Kagemasa Kōzuki on March 21, 1969. It was incorporated as Konami Industry Co., Ltd. (コナミ工業株式会社, Konami Kōgyō Kabushiki Gaisha) on March 19, 1973.
Konami Co., Ltd.
It was renamed Konami Co., Ltd. (コナミ株式会社, Konami Kabushikigaisha) in June 1991.
Konami Computer Entertainment subsidiaries
On April 3 1995, after the Hanshin Earthquake, Konami was restructured. Development subsidiaries were formed under the Konami Computer Entertainment moniker consisting of Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo and Konami Computer Entertainment Osaka.
In April 1996, Konami Computer Entertainment Japan was formed.
In March 1997, additional subsidiaries were established including Konami Computer Entertainment Studios Yokohama, Konami Computer Entertainment Sapporo, and Konami Computer Entertainment Nagoya.
In 1998, Konami Computer Entertainment Kobe was formed.
Konami Corporation
In July 2000, the English name of the company was changed to Konami Corporation.
Consolidation and Konami Digital Entertainment
Konami Computer Entertainment Nagoya and Konami Computer Entertainment Kobe were dissolved in December 2002.
Konami Computer Entertainment Osaka (then known as Konami Computer Entertainment Studios), Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo, and Konami Computer Entertainment Japan were merged into Konami Corporation on March 1, 2005.
On March 31, 2006, all remaining development divisions were merged into a new subsidiary, Konami Digital Entertainment. After this, Konami Corporation became solely a holdings company and was renamed Konami Holdings Company.
