The Game Boy was a line of handheld video game consoles that constituted the second handheld video game platform released by Nintendo. It was preceded by the Game & Watch series of handheld consoles.
It was succeeded by the Game Boy Color, which was released in 1998.

Game Boy
The original Game Boy had a monochrome, green-tinted screen. It was released in Japan on April 21, 1989, in North America on July 31, 1989, and in Europe on September 28, 1990.
