The Game & Watch series of games were the first handheld video game systems released by Nintendo. Each device contains a liquid crystal display screen.
Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros. is a portable video game console by game by Nintendo with a color LCD screen. It contains three games, including Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels, and a remake of Mario the Juggler, a Mario-themed version of the first Game & Watch game, Ball.

It was succeeded by the Game Boy, which was released in 1989.
The first Game & Watch release in twenty-nine years, it is the forty-eighth system in the Game & Watch series.

Development
Limited availability
Gunpei Yokoi got the idea for simple handheld games using a liquid crystal display after watching a man on a bullet train push buttons on an LCD calculator. The result was the Game & Watch series, which became a hit in Japan and North America, leading to games being released over the course of eleven years.
As part of Nintendo's 2020 celebration of 35 years of Super Mario, Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros. was only available to purchase until March 31, 2021.
