Netflix is a video-on-demand and former film rental service by Netflix, Inc..
It launched as a film rental service by mail in the United States on August 29, 1997. It began to be transitioned to a streaming service on January 16, 2007. The DVD rental service was discontinued on September 29, 2023.
The Channel was launched for Wii in North America on October 18, 2010. Netflix was released for Nintendo 3DS in North America on July 14, 2011, and for Wii U in North America on November 18, 2012. Netflix was removed from the Wii Shop Channel for Wii and from the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U on December 31, 2020.
