Sabreman Safari: The Call of Nature, known earlier in development as Donkey Kong Racing and Sabreman Stampede, was a planned action-adventure game that started development as an animal racing game. It was never released.

Donkey Kong Racing

Nintendo released a promotional video showing an in-development video game by Rare at E3 2001. It was a racing video game where the characters rode animals as opposed to the vehicles characters typically rode in traditional racing games.

The game was titled Donkey Kong Racing and featured Donkey Kong alongside characters Rare had previously created for the Donkey Kong Country series. It was being developed for the Nintendo GameCube video game console.

Sabreman Stampede

Microsoft purchased Rare in 2002, putting an end to the use of the Donkey Kong license for the game. However, Rare continued development on the game by utilizing its own characters headlined by its adventurer character, Sabreman. This iteration of the game, titled Sabreman Stampede, was originally being developed for the Xbox.

Sabreman Safari

The game changed in scope from the racing genre to the action-adventure genre and was renamed Sabreman Safari: The Call of Nature. Development shifted to the Xbox 360 as that console neared release. However, in approximately 2005, all development on the game ceased.
