Fictional character biographies
Hank Pym is a scientist, known as Ant-Man. He developed Pym particles, which allowed organic matter, including humans, to increase and decrease in size.
Scott Lang is a thief who steals the Ant-Man suit and Pym particles to become Ant-Man himself.
Marvel Cinematic Universe
The Marvel Cinematic Universe version of Ant-Man premiered in 2015. In this version, Hank Pym worked for S.H.I.E.L.D. as Ant-Man until his wife Janet, known as The Wasp, shrank down to the Quantum Realm in the 1970s and was considered lost. Hank resigned from S.H.I.E.L.D. and ceased being Ant-Man in the 1980s.
In the 2010s, Scott Lang stole the Ant-Man suit and Pym particles and became Ant-Man. After Scott helped Hank keep a competitor from duplicating and selling the Pym particles, Scott along with Hank and Janet's daughter Hope became the new Ant-Man and the Wasp. After Scott shrinks down to the Quantum realm and comes back, Hank shrinks down to the Quantum Realm and brings Janet back home.
