Ant-Man is the name of several characters that are part of an American multimedia series consisting of comics, television shows, films, music, and video games.

Ant-Man is the name of several superheroes, starting with Hank Pym, who was created in 1962 by the Marvel Comics writer Stan Lee and the artists and writers Jack Kirby and Larry Lieber.

The characters were spun off into The Avengers series. Ant-Man was also were in some entries in the Marvel Super Heroes series, in some games in the Capcom vs. series, and in some games in the Disney Infinity series.

Fictional character biographies

Hank Pym is a scientist, known as Ant-Man. He developed Pym particles, which allowed organic matter, including humans, to increase and decrease in size.

Scott Lang is a thief who steals the Ant-Man suit and Pym particles to become Ant-Man himself.

Marvel comics

The Marvel Comics version of Ant-Man premiered in 1962. Hank Pym and Scott Lang are both Ant-Man at different points in the primary Marvel universe.

Marvel Cinematic Universe

The Marvel Cinematic Universe version of Ant-Man premiered in 2015. In this version, Hank Pym worked for S.H.I.E.L.D. as Ant-Man until his wife Janet, known as The Wasp, shrank down to the Quantum Realm in the 1970s and was considered lost. Hank resigned from S.H.I.E.L.D. and ceased being Ant-Man in the 1980s.

In the 2010s, Scott Lang stole the Ant-Man suit and Pym particles and became Ant-Man. After Scott helped Hank keep a competitor from duplicating and selling the Pym particles, Scott along with Hank and Janet's daughter Hope became the new Ant-Man and the Wasp. After Scott shrinks down to the Quantum realm and comes back, Hank shrinks down to the Quantum Realm and brings Janet back home.
