Daredevil is a live-action television series by Marvel Television that utilizes computer-generated imagery. It is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and is the first live-action television series in the Daredevil series.
Seasons
All thirteen episodes of the first season aired on Netflix on April 10, 2015. This season followed a blind lawyer named Matt Murdock who became a costumed hero named Daredevil. He protected Hell's Kitchen in New York City as the crimelord named Wilson Fisk who rose in prominence to become the Kingpin.
The thirteen episodes of the second season aired on Netflix on March 18, 2016. This season had Matt Murdock get back in touch with his old girlfriend Elektra Natchios while he fought Frank Castle, a deadly vigilante known as the Punisher, as the costumed hero known as Daredevil.
All thirteen episodes of the third season aired on Netflix on October 19, 2018. This episode had Matt Murdock recover at the place where he grew up, Saint Agnes Orphanage, after being seriously injured after a building fell on him. While he did so, a psychopathic FBI agent named Benjamin Poindexter who was skilled at aiming projectiles impersonated Daredevil to damage his reputation.
The Defenders
The miniseries, The Defenders, had Daredevil team up with Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist to form a team named the Defenders. They fought against the people who trained Elektra to be an assassin, the group of ninjas known as the Hand.
All eight episodes aired on Netflix on August 18, 2017. The miniseries takes place between season two and season three of Daredevil.
Legacy
The actors who portrayed Daredevil and the Kingpin appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the same characters they played in the Daredevil television series.
Matt Murdock was Peter Parker's lawyer in the film, Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021. He later appeared as a romantic partner to She-Hulk in the television series, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, in 2022.
The Kingpin was the villain in the television series Hawkeye in 2021. Both Daredevil and the Kingpin appear in Echo, a television series about a deaf hero named Echo which aired on Disney+ in 2024.
Daredevil will appear in Daredevil: Born Again, a television series that will air on Disney+ in 2025.
