Sword and Fairy 2 (仙劍2, Xiān Jiàn 2), also known as The Legend of Sword and Fairy 2 (仙劍奇俠傳2, Xiān Jiàn Qí Xià Zhuàn 2), Chinese Paladin 2, or simply PAL 2 due to its default directory name, is a role-playing video game developed by the Crazy Boys Production Group and the DOMO Team, which operated within Softstar Entertainment Research & Development Department 1. It is the second mainline game in the Sword and Fairy series.
Development
During the development of the The Legend of Sword and Fairy remake in 2001, the Crazy Boys Production Group was developing a sequel. However, much of the development team, including the project leader, left the group midway through production.
Softstar Entertainment brought the project leader of the first game, Yao Zhuangxian, who was managing the Shanghai subsidiary at the time, back to Taiwan from China to finish the project within a tight deadline.
The game was completed by the remaining members of the Crazy Boys along with members from the DOMO Team, the latter of whom developed the Yuan-Yuan Sword series. The Crazy Boys Development Group disbanded after the game was completed.
Releases
The Legend of Sword and Fairy 2 was released for Windows in China and Taiwan on January 24, 2003. It was released worldwide as Sword and Fairy 2 on iOS on August 15, 2018 and for Windows via Steam on April 15, 2021, however the in-game text was still only available in Chinese.
