Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis is an adventure game developed by LucasArts based on the Indiana Jones franchise.
An action video game titled Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis: The Action Game was released alongside the adventure game. Other than having the same general plot, the two games share little resemblance.
Plot
In 1939, an undercover nazi stole a horned statue from Bartlett College, the university where Henry Jones Jr. taught.
Junior donned his leather jacket and fedora, grabbed his whip, and went out to discover the reason he was interested in the statue.
This brings him to a former colleague of his, Sophia Hapgood, who speaks about the lost city of Atlantis. Indiana Jones did not believe her, but after they retrieved the statue and other artifacts they were able to stow away on a nazi submarine that took them to the fabled city.
Jones then had to stop the nazis from using the power of the city for nefarious purposes.
Versions
LucasArts published it for Amiga, DOS, and Mac OS in June 1992. Victor Entertainment published it in Japan for FM Towns on August 27, 1993.
LucasArts included it in the Wii version of Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings in North America on June 9, 2009, in Europe on June 12, 2009, and in Oceania on June 19, 2009.
LucasArts then published Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis for macOS and Windows worldwide on July 8, 2009.
After The Walt Disney Company purchased Lucasfilm, Disney Games and Interactive Experiences published it for Linux on October 28, 2014.
Comic book adaptation
A four-part comic book adaptation of Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis was published by Dark Horse Comics from March to September 1991.
Each issue had art by Dan Berry. William Messner-Loebs wrote issue one, Dan Barry wrote issues two and three, and Mike Richardson wrote issue four.
The story follows that of the video game. However, it does differ from the game in certain aspects with some differing dialog, locations, and character appearances, as well as the addition of additional locations and characters.
The four issues of the comic book adaptation was collected into an "Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis" trade paperback with new cover art in June 1992.
All four issues were reprinted in "Indiana Jones Omnibus: The Further Adventures Volume 1" by Dark Horse Comics on January 21, 2009.
