Venom is a character that is part of an American multimedia series consisting of comics, television shows, films, music, and video games.

Venom was created in May 1984, first as an alien costume worn by Spider-Man by the Marvel Comics team of Randy Schueller, Roger Stern, Tom DeFalco, Mike Zeck, and Ron Frenz.

The alien costume was revealed to be a symbiote named Venom and was further developed by David Michelinie and Todd McFarlane in April 1988.

Fictional character biography

Venom is an alien symbiote that is made up of black goo that envelops a person like a costume, embuing that person with enhanced powers.

Venom has bonded with several characters, including Peter Parker, but is mostly bonded with Eddie Brock.

Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man

This version of Spider-Man, retroactively referred to as "Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man" by Marvel, wore Venom as a black version of his costume before he tore it off and it bonded with Eddie Brock. This version of Venom first appeared in 2007.
