Shigeru Miyamoto (宮本 茂, Miyamoto Shigeru, born November 16, 1952) is a video game artist, designer, and producer.

He joined Nintendo Research & Development 2 in 1977, where he his first jobs were designing the cases for the Color TV-Game systems, Racing 112 and Block Breaker. He later designed arcade games for Nintendo Research & Development 1 from 1980 to 1983. In 1983, he was promoted to manager of a new R&D division, Nintendo Research & Development 4 (later known as Nintendo EAD), where he continued to design arcade and later, console games.

During his tenure at Nintendo, he created many characters including Nintendo's mascot Mario. He also created Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr., Fox McCloud, Link, Luigi, Peach, Pikmin, Toad, Yoshi, and Zelda.
