The Wii Remote, informally known as the Wiimote, is a motion sensing remote controller for the Wii and Wii U video game consoles.
It was released in North America on November 19, 2006, in Japan on December 2, 2006, in Australia on December 7, 2006, and in Europe on December 8, 2006.
Wii Remotes utilize a sensor bar that allows for precise position tracking.
Wii Remote Plus
The Wii Remote Plus is an enhanced Wii Remote with a Wii MotionPlus, a device that allows for more complex motion, built in to the remote.
This allowed the remote to be plugged into accessories such as the Wii Zapper without having to remove the Motion Plus extension.
The Wii Remote Plus was released in Australia on October 28, 2010, in Europe on November 5, 2010, in North America on November 7, 2010 and in Japan on November 11, 2010.
