Toei Animation Co., Ltd. (東映アニメーション株式会社, Tōei Animēshon Kabushiki-gaisha) is the animation division of Toei Company.

Nihon Dōga Eiga

Nihon Dōga Eiga (日本動画映画, "Japan Animated Films") was formed in 1948 by two Japanese animators, Kenzo Masaoka and Zenjiro Yamamoto.

The studio was also known by its shortened name, Nichidō Eiga (日動映画, Nichidō Animation).

Toei Dōga

Toei Company purchased Nihon Dōga Eiga in 1956 and renamed it Toei Dōga (東映動画, Toei Animation).

Toei Animation

Toei Dōga was renamed to Toei Animation (東映アニメーション) in 1998.
