Hajime Saitō (斎藤 一, Saitō Hajime, February 18, 1844 – September 28, 1915) was a Japanese samurai.

He was influential during the Bakumatsu, the time period when the Tokugawa shogunate ended, as well as the establishment of the Empire of Japan.

Inclusion in media

Because of his influence on modern Japan, he has been included in many forms of media including the video game Like a Dragon: Ishin and its soundtrack, in which Hajime Saitō is a pseudonym of Ryōma Sakamoto. This version had the likeness of Kazuma Kiryu and was voiced by Takaya Kuroda, Kiryu's voice actor. In real life, Hajime Saitō and Ryōma Sakamoto were two separate men who never crossed paths.
