The House of the Dead is a Japanese horror video game series.
It was created on September 13, 1996 by Sega AM1.
The first game was the The House of the Dead light gun shooter game, which was initially released in arcades.
It was spun off into The Typing of the Dead series.
The games were developed by Sega R&D1 and its predecessors, with the exceptions of The House of the Dead: Overkill, which was developed by Headstrong Games, and The House of the Dead Remake, which was developed by MegaPixel Studio.
Ryu Ga Gotoku included homages to The House of the Dead in the Judgment series.
