Graftgold was a video game developer that was founded in 1983 and closed in 1998.
History
Graftgold was formed in 1983 after Steve Turner quit his programming job to form a company of his own. He hired his friend, Andrew Braybrook, who designed many of Graftgold's games, including Alleykat, Gribbly's Day Out, Fire & Ice, Morpheus, Paradroid, and Uridium.
The games by Graftgold achieved commercial success, due in no small part to the fact that their publisher, Hewson Consultants, was one of the most commercially successful publishers in the United Kingdom at the time. However, Hewson Consultants began having financial difficulties in the late 1980s, so in 1987 Graftgold began using other publishers.
By the late 1990s, Graftgold began having financial difficulties of their own, and they closed in 1998.
