Donkey Kong Country, known in Japan as Super Donkey Kong (スーパードンキーコング), was a video game developed by Rare and published by Nintendo in 1994.

It was the first game in the Donkey Kong Country series.

Versions

It was first released on for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1994.

It was ported to the Game Boy Color in North America and Europe in 2000 and in Japan in 2001.

It was ported to the Game Boy Advance in 2003.

The SNES version was re-released via emulation for the Virtual Console on Wii in Europe, Japan, and Oceania in 2006 and in North America in 2007. It was then released for the Virtual Console for Wii U in Europe, Japan, and Oceania in 2014 and in North America in 2015. It was also released for the Virtual Console for New Nintendo 3DS in 2016.

The SNES version was also re-released via emulation on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System Classic Edition in 2017 and for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System – Nintendo Switch Online service for Nintendo Switch in 2020.
