Fist of the Big Dipper or Fist of the North Star (北斗の拳, "Hokuto no Ken"), known outside of Japan as Black Belt, is a brawler developed and published by Sega.
It was based on the Fist of the North Star series.
Localization
Sega localized the game for the western market as Black Belt.
This version of the game replaced all of the graphics of Fist of the North Star characters with those of generic martial artists and removed any references to the series.
This was done because Sega didn't utilize the Fist of the North Star license outside of Japan.
However, even with the change, the method of defeating the enemies by hitting pressure points to cause them to explode still remains the same.
Versions
An enhanced remake of Fist of the North Star was released on PlayStation 2 as Sega Ages 2500 Series Vol. 11: Hokuto no Ken (Sega Ages 2500シリーズ Vol.11 北斗の拳) in 2004 in Japan. The Japanese Sega Master System version was released on Virtual Console for Wii in 2008 in Japan.
The Japanese Sega Master System version was included in both the Japanese and worldwide releases of Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise, which was released in 2018 for PlayStation 4.
