Carol Shaw (born in 1955) is a retired video game developer who was one of the first women in her field.

Atari

Carol Shaw designed Polo in 1978 at Atari. It was meant to promote Ralph Lauren's Polo cologne, however, it went unreleased until 2002.

Her first released game was 3-D Tic-Tac-Toe for Atari 8-bit computers in 1979.

Other Atari 2600 games she designed at Atari include Othello and Video Checkers in 1980, followed the Atari 2600 port of the arcade game Super Breakout in 1981.

Activision

She left Atari for Activision, where she developed River Raid for the Atari 2600 in 1982. Her next game, Happy Trails for Intellivision, was released in 1983.

The success of River Raid allowed her to retire from the video game industry.
