1899 saw the foundation of companies that would later be related to the computer industry.

Companies and organizations founded

In the United States, Kresge & Wilson Company was founded by S.S. Kresge and Charles J. Wilson on July 31, 1899.

On July 17, 1899 in Japan, the day the revised treaty between Japan and the United States went into effect, Nippon Electric Company, Limited was established. Western Electric Company jointly formed the company, which made NEC the first Japanese joint-venture with foreign capital.

Red Dead Redemption II by Rockstar Games, Sherlock Holmes: The Mystery of the Mummy by Frogwares, and a section of Call of Juarez: Gunslinger by Techland, were set in 1899.
