PlayStation Portable (PSP) was the first portable video game console by Sony.
Models
PSP-1000
The original PlayStation Portable, the PSP-1000, was released in Japan in 2004, and to the rest of the world in 2005.
PSP-2000 (PSP Slim & Lite)
The first redesign, the PSP-2000, was known in Australia and Europe as the PSP Slim & Lite. It was slimmer and lighter than the PSP-1000. It was released in 2007. It increased the RAM from 32 MB to 64 MB. Part of the RAM was used as a buffer to improve the loading time of the UMD drive.
PSP-3000 (PSP Brite)
The second redesign, the PSP-3000, was known in Australia and Europe as the PSP Brite. It had an improved LCD screen. It was released in 2008.
PSP Go (PSP-N1000)
The third redesign, the PSP Go (model number PSP-N1000), was smaller and lighter than the previous models. It had a rechargeable battery that was not designed to be easily removed and it lacked an UMD. Games were delivered solely by digital distribution and stored on the 16 GB of internal flash memory.
PSP Street (E1000)
The final redesign, the PSP Street (model number E1000), was a budget-focused model that lacked many features of the previous models. It lacks Wi-Fi capability, has a monaural speaker rather than the stereo speaker of previous models, lacks a microphone, and does not have physical brightness buttons. Brightness controls are instead controlled in the system software's "Power Save Settings" menu. It was only released in Europe in 2011. An "ice white" variation was released in Australia and Europe in 2012.
