GiGO is a chain of arcades, owned by Genda, in Japan. GiGO stands for "Get into the Gaming Oasis". The chain was originally started by Sega in July 1993.
Acquisition by Genda
On November 4, 2020, Genda acquired 85.1% of Sega's share of the stock in Sega Entertainment. The company was renamed Genda Sega Entertainment.
On January 28, 2022, due to losses sustained during the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic, Genda purchased the remaining shares and renamed the company Genda GiGO Entertainment.
Beginning on March 9, 2022, and continuing in the following months, all of the Sega-branded arcades in Japan were rebranded as GiGO arcades.
