Spider-Man is the name of several characters that are part of an American multimedia series consisting of comics, television shows, films, music, and video games.

Peter Parker, the first character to use the name Spider-Man, is a superhero created in August 1962 by the Marvel Comics writer Stan Lee and the artist and writer Steve Ditko.

Miles Morales, the second Ultimate universe Spider-Man, is a superhero created in August 2011 by the Marvel Comics writer Brian Michael Bendis and the artist and writer Sara Pichelli.

One or more of the Spider-Man characters also appeared in The Avengers series. Spider-Man was also one of the main characters in some entries in the Marvel Super Heroes series, in some games in the Capcom vs. series, and in some games in the Disney Infinity series.

Character biographies

Peter Parker

Peter Parker was a genius high school student with low self-esteem.

While on a field trip at a genetics lab, he was bitten by a radioactive spider.

The bite gave him super-strength as well as the ability to climb on walls.

He also had web shooters on his wrists that would shoot webs.

Miles Morales

Miles Morales, a biracial African-American and Hispanic teenager was also bitten by a radioactive spider.

In the Ultimate universe, he became Spider-Man after the death of Peter Parker.

The Marvel Comics version of Peter Parker debuted in 1962.

Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man

This version of Spider-Man debuted in 2002. Peter had organic web-shooters that he obtained from the spider bite, rather than synthetic ones that he created on his own.

In this version, Miles Morales trained with an older, more experienced version of Peter Parker. Both interacted with multiple versions of Spider-Man across the multiverse. The first versions of Peter Parker and Miles Morales in this multiverse were introduced in 2018.

Marvel Avengers
