What's Shenmue? ~Search for (Former) Managing Director Yukawa~ (What's シェンムー ~湯川(元)専務をさがせ~, What's Shenmue?: Yukawa (Moto) Senmu o Sagase) is a video game for the Sega Dreamcast. It serves as a demonstration of Shenmue. It was released in Japan on November 10, 2018.
Unlike most game demos, What's Shenmue? features an original story.
Plot
Ryo Hazuki, the protagonist of the Shenmue series, chases former managing director of Sega, Hidekazu Yukawa, in order to discover more about Shenmue.

In Shenmue, Hidekazu Yukawa can be found if certain conditions are met.
Two Mr. Yukawa capsule toys can be won as a prize from the raffle at the Abe Store. Once Ryo obtains both and goes to Takara Sushi on the 9th of any month after 8 pm, Mr. Yukawa will be there. In the Japanese release, Ryo asks him about his identity before he runs away. In the Western releases, he just runs away.
On the day after Nozomi reveals her feelings about Ryo, if he goes to Bar Yokosuka after 11:00 pm, Mr. Yukawa will be there having a drink.
Mr. Yakawa can also be seen on battery boxes at the Tomato Convenience Store.
Fan translation
On March 19, 2014, a group of fans at the Shenmue fansite Shenmue Dojo translated What's Shenmue? from its original Japanese and released an unofficial translation patch. The translations available are in English, Spanish, German, and Brazilian Portuguese.
