Yakuza 4, known in Japan as Ryū ga Gotoku 4: Densetsu o Tsugumono (龍が如く4 伝説を継ぐもの, “Like a Dragon 4: Successor of the Legend”), is the fourth mainline game, and the sixth game overall, in the Like a Dragon series. It was released on PlayStation 3 in Japan on March 18, 2010, in North America on March 15, 2011, and in Europe and Australia on March 18, 2011. It received a high-definition port in Japan for PlayStation 4 on January 17, 2019 and worldwide on October 29, 2019. The high-definition port was released worldwide for Windows and Xbox One on January 28, 2021.

Unlike the first three games in the series, in which Kazuma Kiryu was the only protagonist, Yakuza 4 features four protagonists.

Plot

Kazuma Kiryu, Masayoshi Tanimura, Shun Akiyama, and Taiga Saejima find themselves in a conspiracy stretching back to 1985.

Akiyama's story

Shun Akiyama, the lifeline of Kamurocho, runs a money-lending business named Sky Finance. A mysterious woman named Lily arrives at his office looking for a loan.

In 2005, Shun Akiyama worked in the investment department of Touto Bank and was engaged to a woman named Eri. However, he was framed the laundering one million yen into his account. This was actually part of the money laundering scheme by Kyohei Jingu that set up the events of Yakuza.

Akiyama lost his job and his fiance and became homeless. However, in December of that year, a penthouse suite in Millennium Tower exploded, spreading ten billion yen, including the money for which Akiyama was framed, onto the streets below.

Akiyama picked up as much cash as he could, however, while he was sleeping thugs attacked him and stole the money. A yakuza named Hiroaki Arai witnessed the robbery and returned the money to him.

Akiyama took the money and invested it, and by 2010, he ran a company named Sky Finance. The company gave no-interest loans, but only to people who completed a test, which is different for each applicant, devised by Akiyama devised to test their worthiness.

In 2010, Akiyama learned that two yakuza from the Ueno Seiwa Clan were provoking Hiroaki Arai's yakuza family by causing trouble at Club Elnard. Feeling indebted to Arai for his act of kindness, Akiyama goes to Club Elnard himself and defeats the Ueno Seiwa yakuza members. However, Arai arrives and one of the Ueno Seiwa yakuza members pulls out a gun. Arai tries to talk him down. However, as he reaches for the gun, Arai is shot.

Akiyama goes back to his office and witnesses Arai murder an Ueno Seiwa Clan member named Masaru Ihara. Arai flees the scene, and when the police arrive, they arrest Akiyama for suspicion of murder. Thankfully, Akiyama's secretary, Hana, testified to his innocence, and he was released from police captivity. However, Sky Finance was placed under police surveillance.

Back at his office, a woman calling herself Lily asked for a loan of one hundred million yen. As Lily reminded him of his former fiance Eri, Akiyama gave Lily a test, even though he believed he wouldn't get the money back. Her test was to make 3 million yen as a hostess at a cabaret club he owned, Club Elise.

Akiyama is talking with Hiroaki Arai's subordinate, Kido, when the Ueno Seiwa Clan confront them. Akiyama fights them off while Kido leaves. However, when the police arrive, Akiyama resists arrest and runs away from them.

However, since the police know where Akiyama lives and works, they arrive at his office before he does. A detective named Sugiuchi tells Akiyama that he does not want to arrest him and that they were there to protect him. The police put Sky Finance under 24-hour surveillance, which would last for a few days.

Isao Katsuragi, the captain of the Ueno Seiwa Clan, wants revenge for the death of Ihara. Daigo Dojima, the sixth chairman of the Tojo Clan offered one billion yen and the finger of Kazuo Shibata, the captain of the family under which Arai's family was situated. Katsuragi refused the offer since Iwara was promoted to lieutenant the day he was killed, they wanted Kamuracho Hills. Dojima refuses because Kamurocho Hills is worth tens of billions of yen. Katsuragi says if they can't do that, they want either Arai's head or the head of the person building Kamurocho Hills, Goro Majima.

Since the Tojo Clan and the police are both looking for Arai, the police are surveilling anyone with whom he is acquainted. Akiyama spends a lot of time with Arai, so they are keeping an eye on him in case he is contacted by Arai. Akiyama is surprised that the organized crime division isn't handling things and surmises that Sugiuchi is running things as he is seeking a promotion.

When Lily returned to Sky Finance, Akiyama bought her a dress and accessories. After her first day of work, Akiyama took her out on a date. She wanted to go to the Champion District to a building she used to go to when she lived in Kamurocho. The two kissed, but they were interrupted by a yakuza from the Shibata family. Akiyama defeated all of the yakuza and then went to Children's Park, where the two parted.

The next day Akiyama tells Kido about his past as a homeless man, the Millennium Tower explosion that rained money, and how Arai got the money back for him when he was beaten up. Akiyama gives Kido money, tells him to find Arai before the Shibata family, and says to call him if he finds him.

While collecting loan payments in the Champion District, Akiyama notices Drama Queen, a bar where Lily said she used to work. However, upon learning it is an okama bar where only crossdressers work, Akiyama goes inside to investigate. He finds the owner, who wore a Shibata family crest, murdered. Knowing that Kido and Arai's boss were also killed in the same manner, coupled with the fact that Lily lied about where she worked, he deduces that she must have been the murderer.

Lily passes the test by making more than three hundred million yen in three days, so Akiyama gives her the money. He tells her that she wouldn't have to pay anything back if she told him why she murdered the Shibata family men. She refuses, telling Akiyama that she'll pay the money back after doing something outside of Tokyo.

Akiyama arrives at his office to find that Hana has been beaten and Kido has been kidnapped along with Sky Finance's ledger. Akiyama tracks down the men to an area under Theater Square where the homeless sleep. He befriends the homeless and defeats the yakuza, managing to rescue Kido and get back his ledger.

He heads back to his bar where yakuza from the Majima family are looking for Lily. He tells them that she doesn't work there anymore, and they want to know where she went. Refusing to do so, they fight. After defeating them, Akiyama is confronted by Goro Majima. Majima tells Akiyama that he must protect Yasuko, revealing her true name. She is trying to reconnect with her stepbrother, Taiga Saejima.

Saejima's story

Taiga Saejima, the Tiger of Sasai, is on death row for the murder of eighteen people. He is scheduled for execution, however, he escapes from prison.

In 1985, two 20-year-old yakuza from the Tojo Clan, Goro Majima and Taiga Seijima, are supposed to assassinate ten people from the Ueno Seiwa clan. However, eighteen people arrived at the destination rather than ten. Majima never arrived and Seijima shot all eighteen people with six guns given to him by the Dojima family. Saejima was sentenced to the death penalty and was interred at the Tokyo penitentiary.

Twenty-five years after the Ueno Siewa massacre, Saejima was moved to Okinawa Penitentiary #2, a secret facility where Japan's worst criminals are sent.

After a fight, Saejima is sent to the hole and is beaten by a guard that had beaten three men to death. He is saved by the entrance of Goe Hamazaki, who bribed a guard to get one-on-one time with Saejima. Hamazaki tells him that he has a plan for them to escape together.

The next morning, in the yard, Saejima gathers the materials to make a grappling hook and hides it. That night, the two defeat the guards and climb the wall. However, as Saejima began going down the other side of the wall, Hamazaki was shot several times. Hamazaki, moved by Saejima's trust in him, tells Saejima to seek out the only other man who had ever trusted him, Kazuma Kiryu.

Saejima washes up on the shore. Kiryu's adopted daughter, Haruka Sawamura, saw him and told Kiryu. When Saejima wakes up, he is bandaged and lying on the floor of the Sunflower Orphanage. When he learns that he was rescued by the man he was looking for, he asks Kiryu for money to get to Kamurocho so he can get his revenge. Kiryu declined, saying that he wouldn't help him get revenge as he has seen too many people go down that path.

The fight between the two is at a stalemate until Haruka breaks them up. Still hurting from his wounds, he passes out. Although he mentioned Hamazaki, the man who stabbed Kiryu, Kiryu still had Haruka give Saejima a briefcase full of money as well as a change of clothes.

Back in Kamurocho, Saijima searches for his yakuza family but learns that the family disbanded shortly after the Ueno Saiwa massacre because the patriarch disappeared without a trace.

On the roof of Saejima's old apartment complex, he sees that Kido defeated a roof full of yakuza from the Shibata family. Learning that Kido is being hunted by the Shibata family, Saejima asks Kido to help him find his old patriarch.

His search for information takes him to the underground entrance to Purgatory, where he talks to the Florist of Sai. The florist has him enter a death match, but when he wins, Saejima refuses to kill his opponent. Because he chose mercy, the Florist agreed to give him information about the head of his former yakuza family.

The Florist tells him that when Sasai stepped down, the Ueno Seiwa Clan put a hit on him, forcing him to go into hiding. Several months later, Goro Majima was brought down to Purgatory, because he was in bad shape. After he was given care, he lived on the streets.

Sasai is brought into Purgatory, but his mental capacity has diminished. Saejima tried to talk to him, but he couldn't respond. However, after several more tries, Sasai struggles but slowly says the name Saejima, surprising even the Florist.

After leaving Purgatory, Saejima headed back, while avoiding the police, to his hideout in the homeless area underneath the theater. However, when he got there, the homeless men had been beaten by Minami, the Majima family captain.

Minami told Majima that his boss wanted to see him at Millennium Tower the next day. Saejima agreed and went to the location as scheduled. Saejima defeated Majima's men, and after the two went over to the batting cages, Saejima beat Majima as well.

Saejima demanded that Majima tell him why he hadn't shown up in 1985. Majima tells him that he thinks they were all set up by Shibata. Majima reveals that Shibata told him in 1985 that the hit was planned by a traitor in the Ueno Saiwa Clan, who announced the location of his boss, and another in the Tojo Clan who ordered the hit. Shibata blamed Sasai and told Majima not to go. However, when he said he wouldn't abandon his sworn brother, Shibata had Majima beaten and tortured. This is when Majima lost his eye.

Tanimura's story

Masayoshi Tanimura, the parasite of Kamurocho, is a police officer who takes bribes from illegal businesses and gives them to Asian immigrants. He is the son of a police officer and is convinced his father was murdered despite the fact his death was ruled a suicide.

Masayoshi Tanimura, the police officer with the community safety division who arrived at the murder scene after the murder Arai committed, is being chewed out by one of his superiors. Tanimura shrugged it off and left his office only to be told by Chief Hisai not to gamble on duty. Tanimura ignored him and headed to the mahjong parlor, which is something he does regularly.

After he tracked down and beat the man who ratted him out to the police, Tanimura headed to Little Asia. He took a bribe from the man who ran Midori, a Korean salon. The bribe was so Tanimura would keep quiet about the fact he hires illegal immigrants. Tanimura gave the man a picture of Yasuko Saejima, from twenty-five years prior, and asked him to contact him if he saw her. He heads to Homeland, a Chinese restaurant run by a man named Zhao, and gives the bribe money and the money he won in mahjong to him so that he can help the people in Little Asia. Tanimura tells him that he is looking for Yasuko because she might have been the last person to see his father, a police detective, alive after he was killed during the Ueno Saiwa massacre.

Surprisingly, as soon as their conversation was over, Tanimura was contacted by mobile phone and told that a woman matching Yasuko's description had just been spotted. Tanimura goes to the Korean salon to see if the woman really is Yasuko Saejima. Just when Tanimura begins talking to Yasuko, Shibata's men grab her and take her to the docks to kill her.

Tanimura rushes to the docks, beats many yakuza, and heads for Shibata's office. When he gets there he learns that Shibata is hiding Arai from the sixth chairman. Shibata reveals that he never cut off his finger and that he is meeting with Katsuragi the next afternoon at Cafe Alps in Kamurocho.

Just as Shibata is about to rape Yasuko, Arai shoots Shibata many times in the chest. Arai tells Shibata that he is on Katsuragi's team. Katsuragi and Shibata planned the Uneo Saiwa massacre to get better positions in the Tojo Clan. However, Shibata used that as leverage over Katsuragi to get favors. Because of that, Katsuragi feels that he is no longer useful.

After hearing that Shibata staged the massacre that killed his father, Tanimura burst into the room. Shibata died and Arai ran away, but Tanimura managed to save Yasuko.

Yasuko reveals that Tanimura's father told her that her brother may have pulled the trigger, but he didn't kill the men. He told her that the hit was more than just a war between two factions but rather an orchestration by a powerful force. Tanimura's father told her to wait for him, however, he was killed after their conversation. When he didn't show up for their planned meeting, Yasuko fled Kamurocho.

Tanimura always felt there was something off about his father's death because there was no police investigation and it was classified as accidental even though it was clearly murder.

Yasuko revealed that she killed Shibata and his men because she was contacted by Katsaguragi. He told her he'd save her brother for either one hundred million yen, or if she agreed to murder the men he told her to kill. She also revealed that she was first contacted by a man who said he was a detective in Tokyo. He was the person who introduced her to Katsaguragi.

Katsaguragi told her that he was one of the victims of the massacre and if he testified that her brother was not the killer, the case would have to be re-examined. They conclude that she had been unknowingly killing people who knew the truth.

Yasuko and Tanimura come up with a plan to lure Katsaguragi out. She gives him a key to a car parked in the central parking lot that had a briefcase with 100 million yen. Katsuragi and Tanamura make a plan to meet in front of the Millennium Tower the next day.

Tanimura brings the money and Katsugaragi tells him that his father was killed after he discovered high-up corruption in the Tokyo Police Department. He also tells him that Saejima shot the eighteen Ueno Seiwa men but that is not what killed them.

Unfortunately, the meeting was an ambush, and dozens of Ueno Seiwa men surrounded Tanimura. As it appeared that Tanimura didn't have a chance, Katsaguri told him that he was going to blow up Homeland and kill Zhao and his employee, Mei. He also revealed that he was the one who killed eighteen of his own men.

Tanimura was saved by a police car with the criminal investigation detective, Junji Sugiuchi, inside. It drove through the middle of the Ueno Seiwa, and then Tanimura ran to Little Asia. He defeated the Ueno Saiwa men who had amassed all around Kamurocho and kept the money safe. He then ran into Homeland and was relieved to see the restaurant, Zhao, and Mei were alright. However, he was surprised that his superior in the community safety division, Satoshi Hisai, was there as well.

Hisai told Tanimura that the information on the police coverup on the Ueno Seiwa massacre that led to his father's death might be in Archive Room 13 at the Tokyo Police headquarters.

In the archive, Tanimura found a case file about the assault on Yoshiharu Ueno, the chairman of the Ueno Seiwa clan. It stated that a lone gunman carried out the attack and that eighteen men were killed. Only two, including Yoshiharu Ueno, survived. The special investigation team was led by Taigi Tanimura, Masayoshi Tanimura's father, and Junji Sugiuchi.

This information surprises Tanimura, as he had never known that his father worked on the case with Sugiuchi. With this new lead, Tanimura and Hisai head back to Kamurocho.

Tanimura then went back to Homeland to pick up the briefcase of money and give it back to Akiyama. Akiyama did not want to take it because he fell in love with Yasuko.

Tanimura filled Akiyama in on the information he learned. Akiyama then reveals that one of the Ueno Saiwa men, Mishima, from the fight with Akiyama and Ihara was still alive. Tanimura decided to meet him at the docks. He then radioed the police so that he can draw out the traitor in the department.

Mishima tells Tamimura that he and Ihara were ordered by Katsuragi to cause a stir at Club Elnard. However, Akiyama ruined the plan. After Akiyama broke a bottle over Mishima's head, he passed out and then woke up in the Champion District, presumably carried there by Ihara. When Mishima went looking for Ihara, he found his dead body. After that, he got scared and ran to the Ueno Saiwa headquarters. He heard Katsuragi talking on the phone. He didn't hear much, but he presumed he was talking to the cops as the word 'police' had come up often. He also heard that Katsuragi killed Ihara as part of his plan, and he planned on killing Mishima next.

Just as Tanimura told him that he would take him into his custody, he was fatally shot by Sugiuchi. Tanimura told Sugiuchi that he had always suspected that Sugiuchi was not a normal detective, as his shoes and watch were too nice for a homicide detective working at murder scenes. Tanimura also told him that he suspected that he was following orders from someone in a higher position with the Tokyo Police.

The police surround Sugiuchi, preventing him from killing Tanimura. Sugiuchi tells the police that they are bound by Japanese law to not shoot their guns. He then tries to leave, but Tanimura does fire his gun. However, Sugiuchi flees by boat and Tanimura chases him. When they dock, Sugiuchi tells Tanimura that he killed his father. Saguichi tells Tanimura that he is really an Ueno Seiwa spy who joined the academy to keep an eye on the police.

On the day of the Ueno Saiwa massacre, Saejima shot the twenty men with guns full of rubber bullets. Katsaguri then shot eighteen of them himself with headshots to make sure they are dead. He then met up with Sugiuchi, who shot Kashiwagi to complete their plan.

However, when deputy commissioner Munikata checks the report, he notices that things don't add up. The men were all shot in the head and he noticed the wounds from the rubber bullets, which were experimental ammunition. He then asks Sugiuchi to introduce him to Sugiuchi. Sugiuchi then allowed himself to be turned in, as he was feeling guilty about being under Munikata's beck and call for thirty years.

However, Tanimura couldn't bring Sugiuchi in as a man on a boat shot him. With his dying breath, he told Tanimura that there was another traitor on the police force. The traitor turned out to be Hisai, who told Munakata over the radio that he was going to take care of both of them. However, to stop Munakata from coming after Tanimura, instead of killing Zhao and his young employee Mei, he shot himself instead.

At Homeland, Tanimura prays over the badges of Sugiuchi and Hisai, who had both died as they were tired of being used by Munakata and Katsuragi for twenty-five years. They also died because they helped Tanimura. Sugiuchi helped him by leading Tanimura to the truth about the traitors in the department, and Hisai died by his own hand because he wanted Munakata to think he had shot Tanimura. Because of their deaths, Tanimura vowed to bring Munakata to justice.

Akiyama arrived at Homeland to tell Tanimura that the district attorney's office had searched Sky Finance and kicked him out of his own office. Officially they were looking for evidence of coercion because they claimed Akiyama's test was forcing people to do things that did not want to do in exchange for money.

Kiryu's story

Kiryu Kazuma, the Dragon of Dojima, is running an orphanage in Okinawa, but when Taiga Saejima washes up on his doorstep, he reluctantly helps discover the truth of the massacre that occurred twenty-five years earlier.

In Okinawa, Hamazaki stumbles into Morning Glory. Kiryu Kazuma patches him up, and he tells Kiryu about the file he took from Okinawa Penitentiary #2. It revealed that the ten billion yen that blew up in 2005 was supposed to go to the penitentiary, which was a money laundering front for the Tokyo Police, They also used it to bribe prisoners to do illegal work for them.

Kiryu wanted to go to Kamurocho with Hamazaki, but Haruka didn't trust him as he stabbed Kiryu the previous year and was afraid if he went to Kamurocho he would die. Hamazaki told Kiryu that his life was in Okinawa Kiryu went with him to the police office so Hamazaki could turn himself in.

However, when they got there they found Yasuko, Saejima's sister trying to tell the police that her brother was in Okinawa Penitentiary #2. The police told her that there was no such place, presumably because its a secret privately run facility. Overhearing this, Hamazaki and Kiryu went to an empty building that used to be the hideout of the Tamashiro family so that they could tell her all they know.

It turned out that someone in the police force was informed of Yasuko's arrival and he told the Okinawa Penitentiary #2 security staff to apprehend her. Tanimura and Kiryu fought the men, including Saito, and reached the exit. As sirens approached, Tanimura told them to go and he'd fight them off. What he did not want them to know, however, is that he was stabbed in the back. When Kiryu and Yasuko got to safety, Tanimura collapsed, giving his life to help his sworn brother's sister.

Kiryu and Yasuko arrived at Kamurocho at dusk. They went to New Serena so that they could talk in private. Former Detective Date was there tending bar as the mama who owned the bar was gone for a week because of a family emergency.

Yasuko revealed that the reason that she went as far as murder to help her brother was that he saved her life when she was ill and he helped her get a kidney. It wasn't his, as he was only her stepbrother. Taiga tracked down Yasuko's biological father to get him to try to get him to give her one of his kidneys.

Her biological father was a yakuza with the Omi Alliance and extorted Saejima by telling him that he would only give her one of his kidneys for thirty million yen. He tried to get the money by getting in fights around Kamurocho, but he was only able to do some when Sasai told him he'd give him the money under the condition that he join the yakuza under his family. Saejima dropped out of high school, gave up his ambition to become a teacher, and joined the yakuza so that he could help his stepsister.

Kiryu told Date to watch Yasuko while he searched Kamurocho for clues about the location of her brother because he was afraid she would commit suicide if Seijima was dead. When he left New Serena, Date stepped out to tell him that things were tense in Kamurocho and to let him know that Saejima and Majima had already talked to each other. He tells Kiryu that Majima's headquarters is at the top of the Millennium Tower.

Kiryu heads to the Millennium Tower to talk to Majima, but when he gets there, Majima is arrested. He tells Kiryu that the sixth chairman of the Tojo Clan, Daigo Dojima, was responsible for his arrest, and warned him that Yasuko was in danger.

At the Tojo headquarters, Daigo was meeting with Munakata. Munakata was glad that Majima was arrested and told Daigo that the arrest was just the beginning of their partnership. He said the Tokyo police would eradicate the Ueno Saiwa clan in exchange for Arai becoming Tojo captain and the Tojo's conduit to the police.

The Ueno Saiwa had a plan to combat this. They infiltrated Purgatory, defeated the Florist and his security, and chained up Saejima. They said their next step was finding Yasuko and revealed that they were no longer interested in Majima and Kamurocho Hills because Kido, Arai's right-hand man, had joined the opposing faction. When Kido was alone at Sky Finance, he searched the bookcase and found a secret passageway into Akiyama's vault. Kido discovered that Akiyama secretly had one hundred billion yen.

That was the reason that Sky Finance was being searched and why Akiyama was kicked out. They were carrying money into the back of a truck so that they could transport the 100 billion yen.

Kiryu contacted Katsuragi and told him he'd trade the information that Hamazaki took. Katsuragi agreed, but only if Kiryu fought the entire Ueno Saiwa Clan in the still-under-construction Kamurocho building and made it all the way up to him on the roof.

Kiryu defeated the yakuza and made his way up to Katsuragi who was there with Kido. Katsuragi told him that the fight between them would be fairer as Kiryu was worn out from fighting.

Kiryu defeats Katsuragi who tells Kido to shoot Saejima and his sister. Instead, Kido shoots Katsuragi. Arai then arrived revealing that Kido was still loyal to Arai and was double-crossing Katsuragi. However, when Kido goes over to the elevator holding the money, Arai shoots Kido.

While this is happening, Yasuko and Saejima are able to escape. Saejima goes to shoot Katsuragi but doesn't as he doesn't want to take a life. Katsuragi was planning on shooting Saejima in the back as he turned away, but Yasuko jumped in, taking the bullet for her brother.

She then tells Saejima that he never took a life, but she has blood on her hands. She then shoots and kills Katsuragi with the gun Akiyama had given her in case she might need it. She then dies in her brother's arms.

The hundred billion yen is returned to Akiyama, and Munakata is not happy about that, complaining to Arai, who is working with him. Arai tells Munakata that he has no more purpose, and shoots him.

Back at New Serena, Akiyama decides to use the hundred billion yen as bait, placing it on the top of the Millennium Tower and waiting to see who comes after it.

Finale

Akiyama, Saejima, Tanimura, and Kiryu fight the people involved in the conspiracy on top of the Millennium Tower.

After a memorial for Yasuko on the top of the building housing Sky Finance and New Serena, Date is able to use his contacts to get a helicopter, which transports the four up to the top of the Millennium Tower, spreading the money all over. Akiyama, Saejima, Tanimura, and Kiryu get out of the helicopter to see who took the bait.

Daigo Dojima was there, as he claimed the Tojo Clan needed the money because they didn't have a legend like Kiryu protecting it anymore. Kido is revealed to have actually been triple-crossing Arai as he was working with Daigo. However, Arai claimed that he knew that and revealed himself to be a police officer who went undercover in the Tojo Clan. Munakata then reveals he is still alive as the bullet Arai shot him with was rubber, a technology that had improved in the twenty-five years since he used them to frame Saejima.

The four who had arrived by helicopter split up, each fighting one of the men who had come for the money. Akiyama fought Arai, as he had been deceived as the former dedicated his life to helping the latter. Saejima fought Kido as he also felt betrayed after he brought him under his wing as Kido reminded him of a younger version of himself. Kiryu fought Dojima as Kiryu thought that Dojima had gone too far in sacrificing Majima to the police for the money. Tanimura fought Munakata, as he wanted to finally get justice for his father's murder.

Tanimura and Arai refused to shoot Munakata. Munakata laughed at them because he claimed they made it all the way but would not finish things by pulling the trigger, and there was no way he could be tied to the conspiracy. However, Akiyama revealed that they had a plan, and radioed Date who was in a police helicopter. Date dropped newspapers all over Kamurocho with the information in the file. Knowing that he was finished, Munakata committed suicide by shooting himself.

Two months later, Hana came back to her job at Sky Finance, but she had lost a lot of weight. She thought this would get Akiyama to be interested in her, but he was oblivious to her advances. Akiyama told her that he had been stockpiling her favorite meal because he knew she'd come back. Frustrated, Hana eats three.

Meanwhile, on the roof of the Sky Finance building, Date reveals to Kiryu that he is going back to the police force.

Sometime later, Kiryu tells Haruka that he will be gone for a while. He goes to the Tojo headquarters, where Saejima is being inaugurated as a patriarch with his own yakuza family. He then goes into the building, as he wants to help the Tojo Clan in their time of need.
