Goro Majima (真島吾朗, Majima Gorō) is a character that is part of a multimedia series consisting of video games, films, magazines, and music.
He is a non-playable character in most games in the Like a Dragon series, but became a playable character in the spin-off Yakuza: Dead Souls and in the main series in Yakuza 0.
Majima's likeness was used as Majima Gorohachi in the March 2008 issue of Kamutai Magazine. Majima's likeness and voice actor were then used to portray Gorohachi in Like a Dragon: Kenzan! as well as a historical captain of the Shinsengumi, Okita Sōji, in Like a Dragon: Ishin!
Fictional character biography
Goro Majima joined the yakuza and became sworn brothers with Taiga Saejima.
He was supposed to be part of a hit in 1985 on a rival gang with Saejima.
Instead, Saejima conducted the hit himself while Majima was captured, lost his eye, and was chained up.
After a year of torture, he was released to civilian life in Sotenbori, however, he was constantly watched by the yakuza.
In Sotenbori, he ran a successful cabaret with the promise that he would be able to return to Shimano's family if he raised 100 million yen.
He raised the money, but Shimano raised the debt to 500 million unless he killed a woman named Makoto Makimura.
Instead, Majima discovered a conspiracy surrounding Makimura. He protected her, uncovered the conspiracy, and returned to the yakuza.
When he returned to the yakuza, he adopted a manic personality and became known as the Mad Dog of Shimano.
