Amiga, Inc. is a company that formerly owned the trademarks and copyrights related to Amiga.
Amiga, Inc. opened as a subsidiary of Gateway 2000
Commodore International, the original manufacturer of Amiga computers closed after declaring bankruptcy on April 29, 1994.
In 1996, Gateway 2000 purchased the rights to the Amiga computer line as well as AmigaOS.
In 1997, Gateway 2000 opened a subsidiary named Amiga, Inc.
In 1999, the Amiga, Inc. staff were merged into its parent company, then known as Gateway, and the Amiga rights were acquired by a group of former Amiga employees. All of the rights were acquired with the exception of the Amiga patents, which were retained by Gateway. The Amiga patents fully expired on July 14, 2007.
Amino Development changes its name to Amiga, Inc.
The former Amiga employees acquired the Amiga rights in 1999 under the name Amino Development.
On January 3, 2000, Amino Development changed its name to Amiga, Inc.
Sale of Amiga rights
In 2012, the Amiga intellectual property rights, up to 1993, were transferred to Cloanto.
On February 1, 2019, Amiga Inc. transferred its Amiga trademarks and copyrights to the acquisition corporation owned by the director of Cloanto, Mike Battilana. C-A Acquisition was then renamed Amiga Corporation.
