Companies and organizations founded
In New Jersey, USA, the research and development staff at Western Electric merged with its corporate parent AT&T. The resulting team was named the Western Electric Engineering Department.
In Tokyo, Japan, the Telegraphic Service Co. and Japan Telegraphic Communication Co., Ltd. merged with the resulting company retaining the Japan Telegraphic Communication Co., Ltd. name.

International Time Recording Company acquired Dey Time Register Company.
