Elorg (Элорг) is a brand owned by The Tetris Company.
All-Union Association "Elektronorgtechnica"
All-Union Association "Elektronorgtechnica" (Всесою́зное Объедине́ние «Электро́норгтехника») was founded in 1971 in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.
Elektronorgtechnica
The name was later shortened to Elektronorgtechnica (Электро́норгтехника). Elektronorgtechnica often used the Elorg (Элорг) brand name on its products.
Under the Ministry of Foreign Trade of the USSR
Elektronorgtechnica was controlled by the Ministry of Foreign Trade of the USSR from its inception in 1971 until 1989.
It held a monopoly on the export of electronic goods from the USSR. Calculators, computers, and software under labels such as AcademySoft and Elektronika were rebranded under the Elorg label when sold outside of the USSR.
The most well-known Elorg-branded product was Tetris, which was first released outside of the Soviet Union in 1988.
As a private business
After the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, Elorg became a private business under its director, Nikolai Belikov.
Acquisition by The Tetris Company
Elorg was acquired by The Tetris Company in January 2005 for $15 million USD. After this, Elorg was used merely as a brand.
