Fix-It Felix Fix-It Felix Jr. is an arcade game published by The Walt Disney Company to promote the film Wreck-It Ralph.
Story
Wreck-It Ralph is a large man who lives in a dump.
The town of Niceland declares eminent domain to destroy Ralph's home and create an apartment building.
Angered at losing his home, Ralph climbs the building and tries to destroy it.
A man named Fix-It Felix Jr. comes to the building, armed with a magic hammer he received from his father, to fix the building after Ralph wrecks it.
Development
In the Disney film Wreck-It Ralph, the title character lives in an arcade game named Fix-It Felix Jr. The arcade game was shown in the film to have been designed in the 1980s by a fictional company named TobiKemi.
The film version of Fix-It Felix Jr. was conceptualized by Avalanche Software.
To promote the film, Disney hired Code Mystics to design a real version of Fix-It Felix Jr., based on the arcade game in the film.
The game was developed for Windows, and Disney installed 2.66 GHz dual-core Xeon HP XW8400 Workstation computers inside 1980s Nintendo-style cabinets to make the game appear as if it really had been released in the early 1980s.
Versions
The arcade version was first released at the San Diego Comic Con from July 12 to July 15, 2012.
Disney also installed the arcade games at their theme parks.
Also in 2012, Fix-It Felix was ported to Flash for use in web browsers.
It was then ported to Android and iOS devices.
In 2014, Airwalk Studios unofficially ported the game to the Sega Genesis.
In 2018, Basic Fun released a miniature version of the game as part of their Arcade Classics line.
In 2019, the Arcade version was included by AtGames in the Legends Flashback video game console.
It was also included in the AtGames Legends Ultimate arcade cabinet.
