Zilog was founded in 1974 by Federico Faggin and Ralph Ungermann.

Zilog Z80

They are most well-known for the Z80, a series of 8-bit microprocessors that were compatible with the Intel 8080.

The Z80 was used in several computers and video game consoles.

Acquisition by IXYS

In December 2009, IXYS purchased Zilog for $62.4 million USD with money in hand.
