Waddingtons is a brand owned by Winning Moves.

History

In at most 1897, Waddingtons Printing was founded by the theater manager John Waddington and the playwright Wilson Barrett as a theatrical printing company. In 1905 the business was renamed John Waddington Limited.

In 1922, the company began selling games after a boom in the playing card business after World War I, and the company was renamed Waddington Games.

In August 1972, the company was renamed to Waddington Games Limited, and the company name was shortened to Waddingtons Limited in 1989.

The Company was acquired by Hasbro in 1994, after which it closed and became used as merely a brand name.

The rights to the Waddingtons name and products were acquired by Winning Moves in 2008.

Videomaster

Waddington sold card games and board games. In 1974, they started a video game arm of the company titled Videomaster.

Viewmaster ceased operating in 1981, when Waddingtons sold the rights to their video game console to Voltmace.
