Star Trek is an American multimedia series consisting of television shows, films, comics, music, and video games.

It was created by Gene Roddenberry with the premiere of the eponymous series on September 8, 1966.

Fictional history

After Earth makes contact with its first alien species, the Vulcans, Earth becomes a united planet within a century. It is one of the founding entities in the United Federation of Planets, which unites planets together with the goal of peacefully exploring the known universe and beyond.

Star Trek

Star Trek, also known as Star Trek: The Original Series, premiered in 1966. In it, Captain James T. Kirk is the captain of the USS Enterprise, the flagship of the Federation. This iteration featured the Enterprise NCC-1701-A and the NCC-1701-B.

Kelvin timeline

The Kelvin timeline is an alternate timeline that premiered in the 2009 Star Trek film. It was created when a Romulan named Nero traveled a century into the past and destroyed the USS Kelvin, including its first officer and acting captain, George Kirk. Due to Kirk's death, his son didn't become captain of the Enterprise until an older Spock, who also traveled back in time with Nero, convinced his alternate younger self that James T. Kirk was the best choice for captain.
