The Phil Coulson series is an American multimedia series consisting of comics, television shows, films, music, and video games.

Phil Coulson was created for the Marvel Cinematic Universe in April 2008 by the Marvel Studios team of Mark Fergus, Hawk Ostby, Art Marcum, and Matt Holloway.

Phil Coulson is an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. that was killed by Loki to motivate the Avengers to come together to save the world.

After his death, Nick Fury used alien DNA to bring Coulson back from the dead. Phil Coulson then forms his own team and becomes director of S.H.I.E.L.D. after most of S.H.I.E.L.D. was found to be infiltrated by the evil organization Hydra.

He later struck a deal with the Spirit of Vengence that resulted in him regaining his wounds suffered by Loki. After dying from those wounds, he was brought back as a Life Model Decoy android.
