The Iron Man series is an American multimedia series consisting of comics, television shows, films, music, and video games.

Iron Man is a superhero created in March 1963 by the Marvel Comics writer Stan Lee and the artists and writers Don Heck, Jack Kirby, and Larry Lieber.

It was spun off into The Avengers series. Iron Man was also one of the main characters in some entries in the Marvel Super Heroes series, in some games in the Capcom vs. series, and in some games in the Disney Infinity series.

Fictional character biography

Billionaire genius-industrialist Tony Stark was captured by terrorists. Instead of making weapons, as the terrorists demanded, he made a weaponized flying suit of armor and escaped. Upon his return, Stark improved the design of the armor and became a superhero named Iron Man.

In order to keep up with the increasingly powerful threats, Stark continuously built new versions of the Iron Man armor. He also eventually changed the direction of the company he inherited from his father, Howard Stark. Tony hoped to make up for the past mistakes made by himself and his father by changing the aim of Stark Industries to one that would be more beneficial to humankind rather than weapons manufacturing.

Iron Man was a founding member of the superhero team, the Avengers. He was also part of the superspy agency, S.H.I.E.L.D.

Marvel comics

The Iron Man featured in the main universe in the Marvel comics is the original version of the character. In this universe, Tony Stark was affected by his drinking and spent significant time as a recovering alcoholic.

This version of Tony Stark was briefly the director of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Marvel Cinematic Universe

The three Iron Man films, the first four Avengers films, and Spider-Man: Homecoming featured an Iron Man from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In this universe, Tony Stark's drinking didn't affect his life as much as his post-traumatic stress suffered from the Chitauri alien invasion led by the Norse God of Mischief, Loki, and orchestrated by the Mad Titan, Thanos, in the first Avengers film.

This version of Tony Stark was merely a consultant for S.H.I.E.L.D.
