Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is a crossover hack and slash video game that mixes the world of The Legend of Zelda with the gameplay of Dynasty Warriors.

It is the second game in the Hyrule Warriors series as well as a prequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Plot

A tiny mechanical guardian travels through a time portal one hundred years into the past from a period of time known as the Great Calamity when the evil Ganon awoke and destroyed the Kingdom of Hyrule in his Calamity Ganon form.

A hero named Link and a Sheikah named Impa who serves as Princess Zelda's protector awaken the guardian during the Battle of Hyrule. King Rhoam of Hyrule makes Link a Knight of the Kingdom.

Link, Impa, and Zelda travel to take the guardian to engineers known as Purah and Robbie to learn more about it. Although the data is fragmented, they are able to extract enough data to learn about the destruction of Hyrule in the future. Zelda is determined to not let that happen. She intends to enlist four leaders around Hyrule to pilot the four divine beasts, collect the sword that will seal the Calamity, and use her own power to prevent Calamity Ganon from awakening.

They travel to the Gerudo Kingdom to get the chief, Urbosa, to help. However, they are surprised when the kingdom's warriors attack. After making their way into the kingdom from the south, they are ambushed. When they are about to be struck down, the real Urbosa knocks her doppelganger down, unmasking him as Master Kohga of the Yiga Clan.

The trio team up with Urbosa to fight the Yiga Clan soldiers before reaching Kohga. They are about to defeat him when he is rescued by his right-hand man, Sooga.

Urbosa explains that the Yiga Clan are Shiekah traitors who intend to awaken Calamity Ganon. They work for a mysterious man who has his own guardian from the future. He intends to keep Zelda and her friends from preventing the foretold future from happening.
