History

Commodore International was founded in 1954 by Jack Tramiel as Commodore Portable Typewriter Company.

It was incorporated as Commodore Business Machines, Inc. in 1955.

It went public on the New York Stock Exchange as Commodore International Limited in 1962.

Closure

Commodore International closed after declaring bankruptcy on April 29, 1994.

After the bankruptcy, the Amiga computer line was continued by Amiga, Inc., which was founded in 1996.
