Adventure Soft is an English video game developer and publisher.
Adventure International UK
Adventure International UK was founded by Mike Woodroffe in 1983.
It started out by converting the interactive fiction games by Adventure International to computers that were popular in the United Kingdom to be sold in that market under the trade name Adventure International UK, with their first releases occurring in 1983.
It began creating its own games in 1984, however, it still released its games under the Adventure International UK label until Adventure International went bankrupt in 1985.
Adventure Soft UK
Beginning in 1986, it began releasing games as Adventure Soft UK.
Horror Soft
Starting in 1989, they gained a cult following with their Elvira series of adventure-RPGs. The Elvira series was published under the Horror Soft label, with Personal Nightmare as the first game.
Adventure Soft
Since 1993, they have used the name Adventure Soft for their game releases.
They are most well known for the Simon the Sorcerer series. As the industry was shifting towards 3D action games, they made a pre-rendered adventure game called Feeble Files in 1997 and a 3D first-person adventure game called Simon 3D in 2002. These adventures did not do as well as hoped, and afterward Adventure Soft licensed the Simon the Sorcerer franchise to outside developers.
