Parker Brothers (known as Parker outside of North America) was an American toy, game, and video game designer, distributor, manufacturer, and publisher.

George S. Parker Company

George S. Parker Company was founded in 1883 by George Swinnerton Parker in his hometown of Salem, Massachusetts.

Parker Brothers

Charles Parker joined the company in 1888, after which it was renamed to Parker Brothers.

Acquisition by General Mills

In 1968, General Mills acquired Parker Brothers.

Kenner Parker Toys

In 1985, General Mills merged Parker Brothers with its Kenner subsidiary, forming Kenner Parker Toys.

Acquisition by Tonka

Kenner Parker Toys was acquired by Tonka in 1987.

Acquisition by Hasbro

Hasbro acquired Tonka in 1991 for approximately $516 million USD.

Hasbro Games

In 1998, Parker Brothers and the Hasbro subsidiary Milton Bradley were consolidated into Hasbro Games.

Retirement of the brand

In 2009, both the Parker Brothers and Milton Bradley brands were retired by Hasbro.

Closure

Due to the fact that Imagic never recovered from the video game crash of 1983, it was liquidated in 1986.

Most of the Imagic library was acquired by Activision.
